Located in the great big world known as New York, The Manhattan Adult Attention Deficit Disorder Support Group has been hosting peer-run support sessions for adults with ADD and ADHD living in the New York area for almost 25 years. They offer walk in support group meetings open to the public at least twice a month and from time to time sponsor speaking presentations by some of the leading experts and professionals in the ADD/ADHD field of study.
The goal is to bring people who have ADD/ADHD together in order to form a Sense of Community. Here they can share information and ideas, network, and discuss their challenges along with what methods they use to overcome them. Their motto is “We’re Not Lazy, Crazy, OR Stupid”, and unless you struggle with ADD/ADHD, or know someone who does, you probably don’t get it.
Their Facebook Page is run by a friend of mine, a gentleman simply named “Robert”, and although they use their Facebook page mostly for keeping their members up to date on meetings and happenings, the information is open to the public and Robert is more than happy to help whoever he can when he can. They also have a website that is full of great information and resources for everyone from the newly diagnosed to the seasoned vet just looking for an answer.
