More than 4,000 marchers for amnesty head from Larsen Field Park in San Ysidro toward the borderine during a protest back in May of 2006.
1922, the League of Nations (the precursor to the U.N.) granted Britain the authority to take Palestinian land (which had formerly been in control of the Ottoman Empire) and create a home for the Jewish people.
Israel officially became a state/country in 1948. The land which was used to create Israel belonged to Palestine, whom you’ll find did not agree to have their land taken nor to being displaced from their ancestral and legal homes by a huge surge of Jewish immigration.
According to -real- history, factual accounts taken from eye witnesses, the moment Israel was born; they began to work towards expanding their territory into the surrounding Arabic countries. Jewish historians tell the story of a peaceful Jewish state, viciously attacked by Muslims for no reason. Muslim historians tell the story of an aggressive and ever expanding Jewish settlement.
Watching Israel’s behavior towards its neighboring countries today and a review of its expansionist ideals of the past and present, should give anyone a good idea of which history one might see as being more “true”.
Anyone, that has ever researched war, will tell you that people whom are defending their homes fight far more aggressively than invaders trying to seize more resources. The defenders might not win, but they fight with a fervor that many people can’t understand, unless those witnessing the fervor had ever experienced a military force entering their home, killing their children, destroying their home then being driven into the desert with no food, water or shelter.
Israel is an invader, they invaded Palestine and killed/are killing the Palestinians, they invaded Lebanon years upon years ago and seized a huge portion of Lebanese land and of course killed/ are killing many Lebanese women and children in the process and -then- organizations like Hezbollah were born.
“Terrorist” organizations like Hezbollah don’t just spring up and wait for a cause to present itself; they are created from direct influence of external causes. Many of the “terrorists” in the organizations we deem as “evil”, were once farmers, shop keepers and or simple people. They didn’t one day wake up and say, “Hey, today, I’m going to fill a backpack with explosives and kill myself”. They were driven to fight back against an overwhelmingly superior enemy the only way they can… guerrilla warfare.
The term “terrorist” in itself is subjective, Francis Marion was a terrorist to the British Empire, he and his soldiers attacked at night, raided supply wagons, ambushed unsuspecting soldiers…one can imagine the first improvised explosive device in warfare history, lying beside a road traveled by British Convoys. In fact, it is said that Francis Marion was instrumental in making guerrilla warfare tactics an acceptable form of warfare… from one of the great heroes of our Revolutionary War.
A human being will do anything to protect the things they hold most dear, we are a unique species in that, most of us won’t sit by peacefully and watch our children slaughtered or be degraded to the point of living like a wild animal. We as a species can, have and -will- fight to the bloody death for things other than just survival alone, we will fight, kill and or die for ideals like the survival of our children, the survival of our dignity, the survival of our identity.
One must exercise just a little empathy, some common sense and a dash of visualization to get an idea of where many of these “terrorist” organizations get their zeal. Imagine for a moment, a powerful military force entering your city, seizing your home, brutalizing, raping and killing your parents or children or brothers or sisters… what would you do while this military force was moving on to your other family members’ homes? Would you lie down and cry, lost in the moment of hopelessness? Would you forgive your attackers and move on with your life, watching your cousins and kin being murdered? Would you wreak vengeance and retribution on your attackers, in an attempt to stop the flow of your loved ones blood?
I dare say that if a foreign invading force seized my homeland, killed my children, raped and plundered everything I ever held dear, I would be more than a little upset…and if putting dynamite in my butt and running into a crowded market place might save any of my children or the children of my people from being raped and murdered, I would be the
first to bend over and say “just lube it good before you light the fuse”.
Now here’s a twist… what if the military force that is raping and killing your children, would have never been capable of committing such atrocities without the help of an outside third party nation? Without the money, weapons and worldwide vindication that this outside third party nation has provided to your enemy, your children would still be alive and your way of life would have never been destroyed… even though 99% of the people reading this can’t even remotely identify with the sense of grief and anger one might have over this scenario, can you at least see how people in that situation might also come to blame the third party nation for helping the aggressors?
In closing, the majority of us that gasp in shock and demonize terrorists have never been subjected to the events that made those men and women into terrorists.
Terrorists aren’t born, they’re made.
